Lynde & Harry Bradley Technology and Trade School - History

History

In 1906, the school was founded as the Boys Trade and Technical High School.

In 1975, the name was changed to Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School, since that year's graduating class was the first to include young women.

In 2002, the school's name was changed to its present one following a donation by Jane Pettit, widow of Lloyd Pettit. Renovations to the school, including a new main building, were completed on November 11, 2002.

In 2006, the original Boys Tech building was removed using Milwaukee City and MPS funds. The area was to be converted to an athletic field and park, with funding from a grant from the NFL and a local donation. The class of 2006 was the first to have completed all four years in the new main building.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History, as an entirety, could only exist in the eyes of an observer outside it and outside the world. History only exists, in the final analysis, for God.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

“And now this is the way in which the history of your former life has reached my ears!” As he said this he held out in his hand the fatal letter.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

In all history no class has been enfranchised without some selfish motive underlying. If to-day we could prove to Republicans or Democrats that every woman would vote for their party, we should be enfranchised.
    Carrie Chapman Catt (1859–1947)
