Lynda Page - Early Work

Early Work

Born and raised in Leicester, Page began writing her first novel in 1987. She began writing the novel during her lunch hours while working as a secretary for Land Rover Parts in Desford. Annie, her first book, was sent by a friend to literary agent Darley Anderson, who helped her sign a contract with her current publishers, Headline. Her debut novel, Evie, was released in 1992, followed by Annie. Her following two books had the main character as the title; later her titles were popular sayings.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or work:

Long before I wrote stories, I listened for stories. Listening for them is something more acute than listening to them. I suppose it’s an early form of participation in what goes on. Listening children know stories are there. When their elders sit and begin, children are just waiting and hoping for one to come out, like a mouse from its hole.
    Eudora Welty (b. 1909)

No man can call himself liberal, or radical, or even a conservative advocate of fair play, if his work depends in any way on the unpaid or underpaid labor of women at home, or in the office.
    Gloria Steinem (b. 1934)
