Lyle Gun - Manufacturers

Manufacturers

There were about 30 companies who made line-throwing guns from the late 19th century to 1952. Famous names included American Manufacturing, Galbraith, General Ordnance, Naval Company, Sculler and Steward. Production of Lyle Gun's ceased in 1952 in favor of line-throwing rockets or pneumatic launchers.

One current manufacturer's shoulder mounted pneumatic device will launch a line up to 400 feet (120 m). Alternately it can shoot a rescue ring up to 300 feet (91 m) to help attempt the recovery of a man overboard.
