Lucy's Cafe - Lucy's Cafe Meat Sauce and Meatballs

Lucy's Cafe Meat Sauce and Meatballs

Lucy's Cafe was known regionally for its meat sauce and hand-rolled meatballs, which were sold both in the restaurant with meals and "to go" in container sizes ranging from quart to gallon.

The meatballs were so well known that for several years they were sold at Hershey Bears' (an American Hockey League team) home games.

The recipe for the sauce and meatballs remains a family secret. During the restaurant's final month of business, sales of the famed meat sauce and meatballs boomed. Currently, there is no way to purchase the sauce or meatballs, and the recipe has not been published. During the restaurant's final weeks, owner Tony Tatangelo hinted that the meat sauce and meatballs may be available in the future, but official plans for any future sales were not immediately announced announced.

Famous quotes containing the words lucy, cafe, meat and/or sauce:

    She lived unknown, and few could know
    When Lucy ceased to be;
    But she is in her grave, and oh,
    The difference to me!
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

    The train was crammed, the heat stifling. We feel out of sorts, but do not quite know if we are hungry or drowsy. But when we have fed and slept, life will regain its looks, and the American instruments will make music in the merry cafe described by our friend Lange. And then, sometime later, we die.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

    Being American is to eat a lot of beef steak, and boy, we’ve got a lot more beef steak than any other country, and that’s why you ought to be glad you’re an American. And people have started looking at these big hunks of bloody meat on their plates, you know, and wondering what on earth they think they’re doing.
    Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)

    There’s no sauce in the world like hunger.
    Miguel De Cervantes (1547–1616)
