Lucia de Berk - Doubts

Doubts

A committee of support for Lucia de Berk was formed that continued to express doubts about her conviction. Philosopher of science Ton Derksen, aided by his sister, geriatrician Metta de Noo-Derksen, wrote the Dutch language book Lucia de B: Reconstruction of a Miscarriage of Justice. They doubted the reasoning used by the court and the medical and statistical evidence that was presented. See also the English-language article Derksen and Meijsing (2009).

Famous quotes containing the word doubts:

Then comes my fit again. I had else been perfect,
Whole as the marble, founded as the rock,
As broad and general as the casing air.
But now I am cabined, cribbed, confined, bound in
    To saucy doubts and fears.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Jealousy is bred in doubts. When those doubts change into certainties, then the passion either ceases or turns absolute madness.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

A true sceptic will be diffident of his philosophical doubts as well as of his philosophical conviction; and will never refuse any innocent satisfaction, which offers itself, upon account of either of them.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
