LP 944-020 - Distance

Distance

According C. G. Tinney's 1996 paper "CCD astrometry of southern very low-mass stars", LP 944-020 (designated there as BRI 0337-3535) has relative parallax mas, and correction from relative to absolute parallax (i. e. mean parallax of the reference frame stars) mas. This yields absolute parallax mas, and standard deviation of absolute parallax (according formula ) mas, and this corresponds to a distance of pc, or ly. (The same values of absolute parallax and its standard deviation are in RECONS' TOP100 list, which is referenced to the aforementioned Tinney's article.)

Famous quotes containing the word distance:

[As we say], “When you get to be 18 you’re out of here.” No wonder teenagers start to distance themselves from us.
    Jerry Tello (20th century)

Midway the lake we took on board two manly-looking middle-aged men.... I talked with one of them, telling him that I had come all this distance partly to see where the white pine, the Eastern stuff of which our houses are built, grew, but that on this and a previous excursion into another part of Maine I had found it a scarce tree; and I asked him where I must look for it. With a smile, he answered that he could hardly tell me.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The mystery of the evening-star brilliant in silence and distance between the downward-surging plunge of the sun and the vast, hollow seething of inpouring night. The magnificence of the watchful morning-star, that watches between the night and the day, the gleaming clue to the two opposites.
