Lowell Catholic High School

Lowell Catholic High School is a private, not-for-profit, college preparatory school in Lowell, Massachusetts. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston and is a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School.

Lowell Catholic High School was established in 1989 through the merger of the following other Catholic high schools:

  • Keith Hall/Keith Catholic
  • Keith Academy
  • St. Patrick's High School
  • St. Joseph's High School
  • St. Louis Academy

It enrolls young men and women in grades 9 through 12. The school's philosophy embraces the teachings and principles of the Roman Catholic Church. The community is a special blend of people who care deeply about and communicate effectively with one another and with talented students interested in learning. The school's focus is the education of the whole student, of which a basic element is a comprehensive academic program. Enriched by all they have learned and experienced, students are graduated from Lowell Catholic prepared for college and personal life, understanding their moral responsibility to the global community. Lowell Catholic is still developing as a school that can foster a positive learning environment that exemplifies trust and can begin strong and lasting relationships between students and staff. This will be fully achieved once the school has found the right mix of administrators. Lowell Catholic has come a long way from its humble beginnings.

Famous quotes containing the words lowell, catholic, high and/or school:

    These are the tranquilized Fifties,
and I am forty. Ought I to regret my seedtime?
    —Robert Lowell (1917–1977)

I maintain that I have been a Negro three times—a Negro baby, a Negro girl and a Negro woman. Still, if you have received no clear cut impression of what the Negro in America is like, then you are in the same place with me. There is no The Negro here. Our lives are so diversified, internal attitudes so varied, appearances and capabilities so different, that there is no possible classification so catholic that it will cover us all, except My people! My people!
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

The way to go to the circus, however, is with someone who has seen perhaps one theatrical performance before in his life and that in the High School hall.... The scales of sophistication are struck from your eyes and you see in the circus a gathering of men and women who are able to do things as a matter of course which you couldn’t do if your life depended on it.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

I have often told you that I am that little fish who swims about under a shark and, I believe, lives indelicately on its offal. Anyway, that is the way I am. Life moves over me in a vast black shadow and I swallow whatever it drops with relish, having learned in a very hard school that one cannot be both a parasite and enjoy self-nourishment without moving in worlds too fantastic for even my disordered imagination to people with meaning.
    Zelda Fitzgerald (1900–1948)
