Love Song (Sara Bareilles Song) - Inspiration

Inspiration

There are rumors circulating that Bareilles was inspired to write "Love Song" as a defiance to Epic's demand for a marketable love song. She has, however, dispelled those rumors in interviews, stating that no one actually told her she needed to write a love song. Rather, she just felt that's what they wanted from her because of the uninterested reactions she was getting from the song ideas she would propose.

In her own words: "They had encouraged me to keep writing, and I just wasn't having any luck. ...I started to get really insecure about it, and then I got really pissed off at myself for caring what anybody thought. ... I went to a rehearsal space one day. I sat down and wrote something for me. And 'Love Song' basically wrote itself. It's totally honest, and I'm very lucky the label liked it as well."

Famous quotes containing the word inspiration:

Free labor has the inspiration of hope; pure slavery has no hope.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

As one knows the poet by his fine music, so one can recognise the liar by his rich rhythmic utterance, and in neither case will the casual inspiration of the moment suffice. Here, as elsewhere, practice must precede perfection.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

Although this garrulity of advising is born with us, I confess that life is rather a subject of wonder, than of didactics. So much fate, so much irresistible dictation from temperament and unknown inspiration enter into it, that we doubt we can say anything out of our own experience whereby to help each other.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
