Love Me Do - 50th Anniversary Mix-Up

50th Anniversary Mix-Up

EMI's planned release of a 50th anniversary limited-edition replica of the original single was cancelled when it was discovered that the pressings contained the Andy White version instead of the Ringo version as intended.

Revised release plans have been announced for a limited-edition replica vinyl version of the Beatles‘ first single, “Love Me Do” backed with “P.S. I Love You,” in honour of the 50th anniversary of its release in the U.K. The 7-inch disc originally was scheduled to hit stores on October 5, the single’s actual golden anniversary, but it now will be available starting on October 22.

Famous quotes containing the word anniversary:

The second day of July 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more
    John Adams (1735–1826)
