Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development - Public Transportation

Public Transportation

The DOTD is in charge of Public Transportation and provides funding to parishes through grants and Louisiana Transit to provide transportation to the elderly, disabled, single working parents, and poor. Sometimes service is provided by transportation companies, or Council on Aging, Office of Community Services, St. Helena Parish Hospital, St. James Parish Government, and in St. Tammany the "East St. Tammany Mental Health Association, Inc."

Grant Parish is the only parish in Louisiana not participating in some form of public transportation.

Famous quotes containing the word public:

Some crimes get honor and renown by being committed with more pomp, by a greater number, and in a higher degree of wickedness than others. Hence it is that public robberies, plunderings, and sackings have been looked upon as excellencies and noble achievements, and the seizing of whole countries, however unjustly and barbarously, is dignified with the glorious name of gaining conquests.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)
