Marriage and Issue

In Brzeg on 8 May 1649, Louis IV married with Anna Sophie (b. Harzgerode, 29 September 1628 - d. Prochowice, 10 February 1666), daughter of John Albert II, Duke of Mecklenburg-Güstrow by his third wife Eleonore Maria of Anhalt-Bernburg, first cousin of Louis IV's father John Christian; in consencuence, both spouses are second cousins. They had one son:

  1. Christian Albert (b. 7 November 1651 - d. 20 January 1652).

After his death without surviving issue, Louis IV was succeeded by his brothers George III and Christian; however, George III died soon after, and Christian reunited all their lands under his rule.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or issue:

The sum and substance of female education in America, as in England, is training women to consider marriage as the sole object in life, and to pretend that they do not think so.
    Harriet Martineau (1802–1876)

If someone does something we disapprove of, we regard him as bad if we believe we can deter him from persisting in his conduct, but we regard him as mad if we believe we cannot. In either case, the crucial issue is our control of the other: the more we lose control over him, and the more he assumes control over himself, the more, in case of conflict, we are likely to consider him mad rather than just bad.
    Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
