Lou Banach

Ludwig David "Lou" Banach (born February 6, 1960) is a former wrestler for the University of Iowa wrestling team. He won NCAA championships in 1981 and 1983. His overall collegiate record was 92-14-3. In 1984, Banach won a gold medal in the 220 pound weight class at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He was born in Port Jervis, New York on February 6, 1960. Banach's twin brother, Ed Banach, was also a gold medalist in wrestling at the same Olympiad. Both have been inducted into the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame, Lou in 2002 and brother Ed in 1997. After his wrestling career he became a coach at the United States Military Academy at West Point
