Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon Australia

Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon first opened in Australia, at Parramatta in January 1993 after acquiring the naming rights from a Melbourne-based franchise of the same name.

Over the next 7 1/2 years Lone Star expanded to 21 store across Australia, however following an August 2000 business review of its operations Lone Star shut down 10 stores across Australia.

On December 22, 2003, the American parent sold the 11 remaining Lone Star Restaurants operating in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland to Robert LaPointe and Tim Smith.

In April 2010, Outback Jacks purchased all five New South Wales based restaurants intending to rebrand them once franchisees are found.

On 1 July, 2011 Lone Star Steakhouse announced that they will be closing all Queensland stores immediately.

In late 2011 Outback Steakhouse added the former Lone Star site in Penrith to their growing list of restaurants after extensive remodelling.

October 2011, the original Parramatta store closes it doors, and is being demolished.

Famous quotes containing the words lone, star and/or australia:

Looks to me as if you’re trying to acquire a reputation as a lone wolf, Prewitt. You should know that in the Army, it’s not the individual that counts.
    Daniel Taradash (b. 1913)

Our star was brighter perhaps when it had water in it.
Now there is no question even of that, but only
Of holding on to the hard earth so as not to get thrown off,
With an occasional dream, a vision ...
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

It is very considerably smaller than Australia and British Somaliland put together. As things stand at present there is nothing much the Texans can do about this, and ... they are inclined to shy away from the subject in ordinary conversation, muttering defensively about the size of oranges.
Alex Atkinson, British humor writer. repr. In Present Laughter, ed. Alan Coren (1982)
