Famous quotes containing the words locomotives, western, australian, government and/or railways:

The flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
In the days of long ago,
    Ranged where the locomotives sing
And the prairie flowers lie low:—

    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

There is nothing in machinery, there is nothing in embankments and railways and iron bridges and engineering devices to oblige them to be ugly. Ugliness is the measure of imperfection.
    —H.G. (Herbert George)
