Liverpool Students' Union - Liverpool Futures Forum

The Liverpool Futures Forum is the annual general meeting open to all members of the union. The meeting is addressed by the LSU President and addresses certain issues with members, debates and agrees on released reports from the Board of Trustees, the 3 Strategic Forums and the audited accounts. The day is also sub-divided between the 3 strategic forums who present their current reports and activities, as well as addressing ideas and concerns from union members via an open mic session. On each forum presentation, this includes an address by the appropriate vice-presidential student officer, an agreement on priorities and if possible a guest speaker. The first futures forum was held on 22 January 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words futures and/or forum:

One of the things that is most striking about the young generation is that they never talk about their own futures, there are no futures for this generation, not any of them and so naturally they never think of them. It is very striking, they do not live in the present they just live, as well as they can, and they do not plan. It is extraordinary that whole populations have no projects for a future, none at all.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

What is called eloquence in the forum is commonly found to be rhetoric in the study. The orator yields to the inspiration of a transient occasion, and speaks to the mob before him, to those who can hear him; but the writer, whose more equable life is his occasion, and who would be distracted by the event and the crowd which inspire the orator, speaks to the intellect and heart of mankind, to all in any age who can understand him.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
