Live: Madison Square Garden Center

Live: Madison Square Garden Center (1970) is the fourteenth album by Bill Cosby.

The entire album was ad-libbed on stage at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. The album features highlights from two shows of February 7, 1970 (which Cosby performed in a cast on his right foot due to a recent injury to his ankle.) The shows also featured musical performances from Carmen MacRae and Lionel Hampton (whose set featured Cosby coming out to play "The Saints" on vibraphone.)

Famous quotes containing the words madison, square, garden and/or center:

The aim of every political constitution is, or ought to be, first to obtain for rulers men who possess most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue, the common good of the society; and in the next place, to take the most effectual precautions for keeping them virtuous whilst they continue to hold their public trust.
    —James Madison (1751–1836)

    Houses haunt me.
    That last house!
How it sat like a square box!
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

It gets to seem as if way back in the Garden of Eden after the Fall, Adam and Eve had begged the Lord to forgive them and He, in his boundless exasperation, had said, “All right, then. Stay. Stay in the Garden. Get civilized. Procreate. Muck it up.” And they did.
    Diane Arbus (1923–1971)

Placing the extraordinary at the center of the ordinary, as realism does, is a great comfort to us stay-at-homes.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
