Little Saturday

Little Saturday (Lille Lørdag) is a Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish concept that adds Wednesday to the list of "drinking days", with Friday and Saturday. Many nightclubs and bars stay open up to 4 am and offer many kinds of little Saturday specials (rock shows, cheaper drinks etc.) Norwegian teenagers and young adults often use Lille Lørdag as a synonym for Wednesday (Onsdag in Norwegian.) The same concept also exists in some other Nordic countries. In Sweden it is known as Lill-Lördag and in Finland it is called pikkulauantai.

"Little Saturday" is also a common term amoung residents of the Knox Prairie, North Texas Plains, referring to an early weekend break.

Famous quotes containing the word saturday:

The return of the asymmetrical Saturday was one of those small events that were interior, local, almost civic and which, in tranquil lives and closed societies, create a sort of national bond and become the favorite theme of conversation, of jokes and of stories exaggerated with pleasure: it would have been a ready- made seed for a legendary cycle, had any of us leanings toward the epic.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
