- The first ever Football League goal was accorded to Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening day of the 1888-89 season. However it was an own goal, scored by Aston Villa's Gershom Cox.
- Wolves were awarded, and scored from, the Football League's first ever penalty kick on 14 September 1891.
- Wolves were the first team to pass the 100-goal mark for three seasons in succession, in the 1957–58, 1958–59 and 1959–60 seasons, a feat they also managed in the following campaign.
