Economic Impact
A study by Mark Snead and the Oklahoma State University's Center for Applied Economic Research, discovered that graduates from an Oklahoma CareerTech Center can expect to have a higher wage and that wage will tend to grow faster than non-CareerTech students with only a high school diploma. Snead's study also said graduates of CareerTech add about $2 billion to the Oklahoma economy. The income of CareerTech graduates could be expected to grow about 1.25 percent per year compared to a 0.25 percent annual growth for high school graduates without further education.

Famous quotes containing the words economic and/or impact:
“When you overpay small people you frighten them. They know that their merits or activities entitle them to no such sums as they are receiving. As a result their boss soars out of economic into magic significance. He becomes a source of blessings rather than wages. Criticism is sacrilege, doubt is heresy.”
—Ben Hecht (18931964)
“Television does not dominate or insist, as movies do. It is not sensational, but taken for granted. Insistence would destroy it, for its message is so dire that it relies on being the background drone that counters silence. For most of us, it is something turned on and off as we would the light. It is a service, not a luxury or a thing of choice.”
—David Thomson, U.S. film historian. America in the Dark: The Impact of Hollywood Films on American Culture, ch. 8, William Morrow (1977)
