Intermediate Era
Only three universities were founded between 1969 and 1992 and they were all the "odd-one-out" in some way: The Open University is the UK's only distance learning university; the University of Buckingham is the only private university; and the University of Ulster was formed from the merger of a plate glass university with a polytechnic.
Name | Date of foundation | Motto |

Famous quotes containing the words intermediate and/or era:
“Complete courage and absolute cowardice are extremes that very few men fall into. The vast middle space contains all the intermediate kinds and degrees of courage; and these differ as much from one another as mens faces or their humors do.”
—François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (16131680)
“The great pagan world of which Egypt and Greece were the last living terms ... once had a vast and perhaps perfect science of its own, a science in terms of life. In our era this science crumbled into magic and charlatanry. But even wisdom crumbles.”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
