Protagonists
- Spider Jerusalem, main character of the series, gonzo journalist extraordinaire. Inspired by Hunter S. Thompson, and the spiritual cousin to Doonesbury's "Uncle Duke." His early, unshaved appearance is a direct reference to Ellis's friend and fellow comic author Alan Moore.
