Generic Platforms
The above codes specify variants on a particular model (eg MA70 Supra or JZA70 Supra sharing the 'A' code) or a set of very closely related models (eg Corolla and Sprinter sharing the 'E' code). But there are also some generic designs that are shared among many other specific platforms. These typically last for only a couple of generations.
