Primary Series

  • The Punisher was a five-issue comic book limited series (January to May 1986). It was written by Steven Grant, with art by Mike Zeck and Mike Vosburg.
  • The Punisher vol. 2 was the first ongoing series featuring the character. It ran for 104 issues (July 1987 - July 1995) with 7 annuals (1988 – 1994).
  • The Punisher War Journal was a spin-off series which ran for 80 issues (November 1988 – July 1995). It was noted for featuring early art by Jim Lee.

  • The Punisher vol. 7 was an ongoing series created by Garth Ennis under the MAX imprint which ran for 75 issues (March 2004 – October 2009) with one annual (2007). Though often referred to as The Punisher MAX, it was initially published as The Punisher, and changed to The Punisher: Frank Castle MAX with issue #66.
  • Punisher War Journal vol. 2 was an ongoing series written by Matt Fraction which ran for 26 issues (January 2007 – January 2009) with one annual (2009).
  • Punisher: War Zone vol. 2 was a six-issue limited series under the Marvel Knights imprint (February to March 2009). It was written by Garth Ennis, with art by Steve Dillon.
  • Punisher vol. 8 was an ongoing series written by Rick Remender, which ran for 21 issues (March 2009 – November 2010) with one annual (2009). The series was retitled Franken-Castle with issue #17.
  • PunisherMAX was an ongoing series under the MAX imprint which ran for 22 issues (January 2010 – February 2012). It was written by Jason Aaron, with art by Steve Dillon.
  • The Punisher vol. 9 was an ongoing series which ran for 16 issues (August 2011 – September 2012). It was written by Greg Rucka, with art by Marco Checchetto.
  • Punisher: War Zone vol. 3 is a five-issue limited series beginning in October 2012. It is written by Greg Rucka, with art by Carmine di Giandomenico.
