While Felix is shooting an ad campaign for a soft drink with Howard Cosell at his studio, Oscar shows up and starts a feud with Cosell who is so incensed he walks away from doing the shoot. It will take some mending by the boys to get Cosell to return.

After a heavy day at the job for both of them, the boys take the advice of a monk who dropped out of society 10 years ago and joined a retreat. They decide to try the retreat for themselves, with Felix giving it his all and Oscar realizing he made a mistake the minute he gets there.

Oscar is trying to write a sports book entitled Knockout, from the point of view of the killer instinct. Murray the Cop gives Oscar the use of a friend's isolated cabin in the woods to try and help Oscar, who hasn't been able to write a single page. Felix tags along and accidentally helps Oscar solve the problem.

When Oscar's ulcer acts up, Felix becomes nursemaid to him. Unable to control Oscar's habits to eat junk food, he recommends that they go on a cruise to escape such temptations. Oscar thinks there certainly will be temptations on the cruise when it turns out to be a cruise for senior citizens.

Felix and Oscar's constant fighting is driving their friends away from them. They try to resolve the situation with group therapy and get kicked out, but not before the therapist suggests that they try role reversal.

Felix's opera club is doing Madame Butterfly and needs to raise money for new costumes. He decides to throw a Monte Carlo night. All goes well until Felix greedily keeps the tables open and the house begins to lose money. It turns out that the one who won all the money from the house owed Oscar that money. Now Felix comes to collect to regain the money for the costumes. But Oscar has a little detour with a bet at a pool hall first.

Oscar gets four tickets to the hottest new Broadway show in town, Kiss My Face. He invites Felix and his girlfriend Miriam, but can't find a date for himself. Deciding to scalp the ticket, the plans go awry as he and get Felix get arrested. It'll take a trial in court to get the boys out of this mess.

Oscar smokes a cigar in bed and falls asleep, thus ruining the bed, which is Felix's. Oscar's old college pal, Monty Hall, gives him tickets to his game show Let's Make a Deal. Oscar and Felix try to go on to win back the money for the bed Oscar now owes Felix. Guest star: Monty Hall.

Oscar's mother is coming for a visit. He's told her that he's met the girl of his dreams. Now all he has to do is find that woman. Felix helps him, and winds up introducing Oscar (after a few failed attempts) to a Greek woman who winds up showing the boys belly dancing.

While Oscar is preoccupied with writing a new sports book, Felix uses the opportunity to repaint the apartment and redecorate in ultra modern. Oscar, hating all the new changes, decides to start over by redecorating with his own ideas. Charles Lane and Bubba Smith guest star.
70 23 "The Murray Who Came to Dinner" Jerry Paris Ron Friedman March 23, 1973 (1973-03-23)
Murray the cop is assigned to guard a Roller Derby queen, and his wife becomes jealous. Murray holds his ground of innocence and leaves his wife. He shows up at Felix and Oscar's place and it doesn't take long before he completely exasperates the two of them.
