Busiest US Airports By Total Passenger Boardings
The FAA uses passenger boarding for a full calendar year to determine AIP entitlements. The term hub is used by the FAA to identify very busy commercial service airports. For instance, large hubs are those airports that each account for at least one percent of total U.S. passenger enplanements. Medium hubs are defined as airports that each account for between 0.25 percent and one percent of the total passenger enplanements.
In Calendar Year 2011 there were 29 Large Hubs (total 64.9% of passenger boardings), and 35 Medium Hubs (total 16.6% of passenger boardings).

Famous quotes containing the words busiest, total and/or passenger:
“The feeling of being hurried is not usually the result of living a full life and having no time. It is on the contrary born of a vague fear that we are wasting our life. When we do not do the one thing we ought to do, we have no time for anything elsewe are the busiest people in the world.”
—Eric Hoffer (19021983)
“Of lower states, of acts of routine and sense, we can tell somewhat; but the masterpieces of God, the total growths and universal movements of the soul, he hideth; they are incalculable. I can know that truth is divine and helpful; but how it shall help me I can have no guess, for so to be is the sole inlet of so to know.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Every American travelling in England gets his own individual sport out of the toy passenger and freight trains and the tiny locomotives, with their faint, indignant, tiny whistle. Especially in western England one wonders how the business of a nation can possibly be carried on by means so insufficient.”
—Willa Cather (18761947)
