Eight Sceneries of Jinan
Historically, eight sceneries in Jinan have been renowned for their beauty; they are known as the "Eight Sceneries of Jinan" (Chinese: 济南八景; pinyin: Jìnán Bā Jǐng). The eight sceneries are defined not only by location, but also other factors such as season and weather:
- Early spring at Jingping Cliff (Chinese: 锦屏春晓; pinyin: Jǐn píng chūn xiǎo; literally "Brocade screen spring dawn")
- Baotu Spring gushing into the air (Chinese: 趵突腾空; pinyin: Bào tū téng kōng)
- Appreciating chrysanthemums at Buddha Hill (Fohui Hill, not the nearby Thousand Buddha Mountain, Chinese: 佛山赏菊; pinyin: Fó shān shǎng jú)
- Mist at Que and Hua Hills (Chinese: 鹊华烟雨; pinyin: Que huá yān yǔ)
- Sunset at Huibo Building (at Daming Lake, Chinese: 汇波晚照; pinyin: Huì bō wǎn zhào, also Chinese: 会波晚照; pinyin: Huì bō wǎn zhào)
- Boating on Daming Lake (Chinese: 明湖泛舟; pinyin: Míng hú fàn zhōu)
- Snow reflections at the White Clouds Building (next to the Pearl Spring, Chinese: 白云雪霁; pinyin: Bái yún xuě jì)
- Autumn wind at Lixia Pavilion (on an island in Daming Lake, Chinese: 历下秋风; pinyin: Lì xià qiū fēng)
