The mall culture in Uttar Pradesh begins when the Rave 3 mall in the Kanpur city opens in late 2001. The first multiplex in the northern India which received huge response from local and nearby cities. However, now there are many mall opened in last 4 to 5 years. If we exclude Ghaziabad and Noida from U.P. (since it comes in NCR) the Kanpur and Lucknow cities are dominating in the number of malls. Meerut, Agra, Allahabad and Varanasi comes next.
