List of Serbian Orthodox Monasteries - Republic of Macedonia

Republic of Macedonia

The Macedonian Orthodox church declared autocephaly on July 19, 1967, from the Serbian church, a move which is not recognised by any of the churches of the Eastern Orthodox Communion, and since then, the Macedonian Orthodox Church is not in communion with any Orthodox Church. Several Serbian monasteries are thus in control of the non-recognized MOC, in reality part of the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric. The following are founded by Serbs or in the control of the SOC:

Famous quotes containing the words republic of and/or republic:

The first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his weight.
    Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919)

History in the making is a very uncertain thing. It might be better to wait till the South American republic has got through with its twenty-fifth revolution before reading much about it. When it is over, some one whose business it is, will be sure to give you in a digested form all that it concerns you to know, and save you trouble, confusion, and time. If you will follow this plan, you will be surprised to find how new and fresh your interest in what you read will become.
    Anna C. Brackett (1836–1911)
