List Of Scotland ODI Cricketers

Since Scotland's first One Day International (ODI) in 1999, 39 players have represented the team. A One Day International (ODI) is an international cricket match between two representative teams, each having ODI status, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC). An ODI differs from Test matches in that the number of overs per team is limited, and that each team has only one innings. The list is arranged in the order in which each player won his first ODI cap. Where more than one player won his first ODI cap in the same match, those players are listed alphabetically by surname. From 1 January 2006, Scotland has official ODI status, meaning that any one-day match it plays after that date against the Test-playing nations, or against another side with ODI status, is an official ODI. The country retains official ODI status at least until the end of the 2009 ICC Trophy.

Scotland have played 40 ODIs, resulting in 10 victories, 27 defeats, and 3 no results. At the 2007 World Cup, Scotland lost all three of their matches and failed to pass beyond the group stages. Scotland risk losing players to the county cricket system in England, where teams representing 18 of the traditional counties of England compete. Kyle Coetzer signed for Durham and was unable to represent Scotland in ODIs because of his commitment to establishing a career with the county.

Ryan Watson made the highest score for Scotland on 18 January 2007 when he scored 123 not out against Canada. This was also the first ODI century scored for Scotland. John Blain holds the records for the best bowling figures for Scotland in ODI with 5/22 against the Netherlands on 29 July 2008. He also holds the record for most wickets in ODIs for Scotland with 41 wickets. Gavin Hamilton is Scotland's leading run-scorer with 1,150 runs.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or scotland:

Love’s boat has been shattered against the life of everyday. You and I are quits, and it’s useless to draw up a list of mutual hurts, sorrows, and pains.
    Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930)

Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

The state of monarchy is the supremest thing upon earth: for kings are not only God’s Lieutenants upon earth, and sit upon God’s throne, but even by God himself they are called gods.
James I of England, James VI of Scotland (1566–1625)
