List of People Who Have Walked Across The United States - Jack Morris

Jack Morris

Jack Morris, a 40-year-old from Seattle, Washington, walked 3,333 miles (5,364 km) from Jacksonville, Florida back to Seattle over 133 days. His trip began on May 1, 2010 and ended on September 10, 2010. The walk began as a quest for individual accomplishment, with Jack soon realizing that the walk was much bigger than one man. Soon thereafter, the walk soon developed into a quest to raise money for Seattle Children's Hospital. Jack documented his walk daily on his blog at My Long Walk Home. When he finished walking, Jack hadn't reached the fundraising goal he had hoped to achieve. To help motivate donations, 2 weeks later Jack hopped on a bicycle and rode 3700 miles back towards Jacksonville over the next 6 weeks.

Famous quotes containing the words jack and/or morris:

Wild Bill was indulging in his favorite pastime of a friendly game of cards in the old No. 10 saloon. For the second time in his career, he was sitting with his back to an open door. Jack McCall walked in, shot him through the back of the head, and rushed from the place, only to be captured shortly afterward. Wild Bill’s dead hand held aces and eights, and from that time on this has been known in the West as “the dead man’s hand.”
State of South Dakota, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

We never stop investigating. We are never satisfied that we know enough to get by. Every question we answer leads on to another question. This has become the greatest survival trick of our species.
    —Desmond Morris (b. 1928)
