List of Mystery Science Theater 3000 Episodes - Explanation of Entries

Explanation of Entries

Each entry starts with a code, which is its production number. Episodes are listed in production number order, not production order or air date order. The MST3K episode title is next, and if the original film title is different from the MST3K episode title, the former follows in parentheses. Also in parentheses is the film's initial release year, a color/black & white notation, the production company (if known), and the country of origin (if not the United States). The next field shows the initial MST3K airdate of the episode. The last column indicates whether the episode is available on home video, and if so, in what form.

Because The Comedy Channel referred to their first series of MST3K as "Season 1", and Comedy Central and the Sci Fi Channel continued with this numbering, the 21 episodes aired on KTMA-TV are referred to by fans as "Season 0".

Famous quotes containing the words explanation of and/or explanation:

Herein is the explanation of the analogies, which exist in all the arts. They are the re-appearance of one mind, working in many materials to many temporary ends. Raphael paints wisdom, Handel sings it, Phidias carves it, Shakspeare writes it, Wren builds it, Columbus sails it, Luther preaches it, Washington arms it, Watt mechanizes it. Painting was called “silent poetry,” and poetry “speaking painting.” The laws of each art are convertible into the laws of every other.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

How strange a scene is this in which we are such shifting figures, pictures, shadows. The mystery of our existence—I have no faith in any attempted explanation of it. It is all a dark, unfathomed profound.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
