Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff) is a mutant in the Marvel Comics universe. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in X-Men #4 (March 1964). The son of Magneto and twin brother of the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver's mutation grants him superhuman speed. The character initially appeared as a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, and later became a regular member of the superhero team the Avengers.
