"The Firefly Cage" 10 January 1986 East Anglian antiques dealer Lovejoy agrees to take on a new assistant, Eric. He also runs into Lady Jane Felsham for the first time, and the two quickly build up a bond disrupted only by the mystery around a Japanese firefly cage and her husband, Lord Alexander.
"The Axeman Cometh" 17 January 1986 Lovejoy acquires a valuable dressing table from under the nose of a Charlie Gimbert, using underhand methods. He quickly becomes the target of a violent axe-wielding maniac who has hidden his own valuables in the dresser.
"The Sting" 24 January 1986 Lovejoy schemes to acquire some very valuable porcelain figures.
"Friends, Romans and Enemies" 31 January 1986 Lovejoy comes across Roman coins which he believes are genuine. However, the tangle in the tail, revolves around the coins being deposited on the Isle of Man, at the very time when it is established, that ancient Rome did not colonise the Island.

Undeterred, however, Lovejoy makes his way to the Island in order to stake his claim upon the coins. Unfortunately for Lovejoy, his endeavours involve various entaglements with certain people who are also aware of the prize, which awaits the person who should be lucky enough to unlock the mystery which surrounds the hoard - the clue to the mystery being that the coins have a link to the famous Laxey Wheel.

"The Judas Pair" 7 February 1986 Lovejoy is hired by the family of a murdered man, apparently killed by a pair of duelling pistols. One of his biggest obstacles is that nobody seems to believe they exist.
"To Sleep No More" 14 February 1986 When a man who arranged to meet Lovejoy at the local cricket game dies, it's up to Lovejoy to find the fortune that was promised to the widow.
"The Real Thing" 21 February 1986 In order to escape his creditors, Lovejoy heads to Norwich for a few days where he acquires a job working for Tony Palmer who is setting up a new antiques showroom in the city. However, he soon begins to suspect that his new employer is not entirely honest.
"The March of Time" 28 February 1986 Lovejoy has to decide whether some Napoleonic love letters, written by a young British officer to his sweetheart during the Peninsular War are genuine. The involvement of Charlie Gimbert, as ever, muddies the situation.
"Death and Venice" (part one) 7 March 1986 After a friend and fellow antiques dealer is murdered, Lovejoy runs across a sinister syndicate who have mysterious dealings in the city of Venice. Unconvinced by their explanations, Lovejoy travels to Italy to try to establish just what they are up to.
"Death and Venice" (part two) 14 March 1986 Lovejoy becomes involved in a plan to strip Venice of its art treasures, which the syndicate fears will be destroyed through floods and neglect if they do not act. When he tries to thwart their plans, he quickly becomes a target for assassination by the syndicate.
