List of International Space Station Visitors - Statistics

Statistics

As of November 19, 2012 (2012 -11-19), 207 individuals have made 337 spaceflights to the ISS, including the three people currently at the ISS (Expedition 34). NASA astronauts Mark E. Kelly and Frederick W. Sturckow plus cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko made four spaceflights to the ISS, while 24 people made three and 73 people made two. Note that this list assigns individuals with dual citizenship to their country of primary residence at time of launch (for example, the Iranian-American space tourist Anousheh Ansari is only listed under the United States).

All private space travel is aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. When only two crew members are required in the three seat Soyuz, and additional cargo is not sent, the additional seat is sold to the general public through Space Adventures. Private travelers remain on the ISS during handover from one expedition crew to the next, generally a week or two. The NASA Space Shuttle carried 7 crew members, and the longest docking with the ISS was 11 days. Many visitors to the ISS were accommodated for short periods during NASA shuttle dockings. NASA stated it was "not interested" in private spaceflight from the beginning of the ISS and has not changed its position.

Famous quotes containing the word statistics:

Maybe a nation that consumes as much booze and dope as we do and has our kind of divorce statistics should pipe down about “character issues.” Either that or just go ahead and determine the presidency with three-legged races and pie-eating contests. It would make better TV.
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

We already have the statistics for the future: the growth percentages of pollution, overpopulation, desertification. The future is already in place.
    Günther Grass (b. 1927)

O for a man who is a man, and, as my neighbor says, has a bone in his back which you cannot pass your hand through! Our statistics are at fault: the population has been returned too large. How many men are there to a square thousand miles in this country? Hardly one.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
