List of Formula One Drivers - By Nationality

By Nationality

Drivers from a total of 38 different nations have entered a World Championship race. The United Kingdom is the most heavily represented with 158 drivers. Second is the United States with 155; between 1950 and 1960 the American Indianapolis 500 race, rarely contested by drivers from outside the United States, was part of the World Drivers' Championship. Third is Italy with 101. Nine of these countries were represented in the very first race, the 1950 British Grand Prix, and the most recent newly-represented nation is Russia, with Vitaly Petrov making his debut at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix. Statistics are accurate up to and including the end of the 2012 season.

Famous quotes containing the word nationality:

Rarely do American parents deliberately teach their children to hate members of another racial, religious, or nationality group. Many parents, however, communicate the prevailing racial attitudes to their children in subtle and sometimes unconscious ways.
    Kenneth MacKenzie Clark (20th century)

If nationality is consent, the state is compulsion.
    Henri-Frédéric Amiel (1821–1881)
