On January 2, 2012, the Amity themed portion of this area was permanently removed to allow for the construction of a new attracion experience. This move also resulted in the closure of the Jaws attraction as well as the removal of multiple shopping and dining establishments in the section such as The Midway Grill and Quint's Surf Shack.
