Ryan Malloy, played by Neil McDermott, was introduced to the show as a mystery character, who was credited simply as "Man" to keep his identity hidden but was revealed to be the half brother of established character Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty). He has a dark past and Santer called him "intriguing and complex". Ryan's first on-screen appearance was on 28 April 2009. He has been involved in a love triangle with his wife, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner), the mother of his daughter, Lily Branning.
