Doc Martin is a British comedy-drama that has aired on ITV since 2004, with a first series of six episodes. The episode number for the second series increased to eight. This was followed by a special bonus Christmas episode and a third series of seven episodes. The next two series aired eight episodes each. Therefore, 38 episodes (from the 5 series plus the stand-alone Christmas Special) have aired so far. The latest series had its original UK broadcast in 2011. In March 2012 in an interview on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Martin Clunes confirmed a sixth series of the show, which will air in late 2013.
