  • Abroad - open: "Laive the door abroad boy" i.e. do not shut it
  • Addled - empty, cracked or broken; e.g. addled eggs
  • Aglets - hawthorn berries
  • Agone - ago; as in 'a week agone' (mid and east Cornwall)
  • Alt - cliff (a place-name element) (from Cornish language als)
  • Ansome - lovely (from "handsome"); Me ansome (familiar way to address a man)
  • Ar'm - are 'em/aren't they
  • Ay? - I beg your pardon?
  • Ayes (pronounced, 'ace') - yes (see also: "Ess", below)
