United Kingdom
- Virgin Media is the largest and sole Cable Internet provider in the majority of the United Kingdom, rebranded from a previous merger between two formerly separate cable companies, NTL and Telewest. As most of the smaller cable companies that laid fibre optic cable around 70% of the UK were bought by NTL & Telewest, later merging to form Virgin Media. They have an unbreakable monopoly on the fibre optic cable network. Since May 2007, their premium package (XXL) offers download speeds of up to 50 megabits per second, with upload speeds of 5 megabits per second. Virgin is currently testing a new service offering up to 200 megabits per second in download speeds.
