List of Blood Donation Agencies - United States

United States

The United States does not have a centralized blood donation service. The American Red Cross collects a little less than half of the blood used, the other half is collected by independent agencies, most of which are members of America's Blood Centers. The US military collects blood from service members for its own use, but also draws blood from the civilian supply.

Famous quotes related to united states:

In the United States there is more space where nobody is is than where anybody is.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

When, in some obscure country town, the farmers come together to a special town meeting, to express their opinion on some subject which is vexing to the land, that, I think, is the true Congress, and the most respectable one that is ever assembled in the United States.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is said that the British Empire is very large and respectable, and that the United States are a first-rate power. We do not believe that a tide rises and falls behind every man which can float the British Empire like a chip, if he should ever harbor it in his mind.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The United States is the only great nation whose government is operated without a budget. The fact is to be the more striking when it is considered that budgets and budget procedures are the outgrowth of democratic doctrines and have an important part in developing the modern constitutional rights.... The constitutional purpose of a budget is to make government responsive to public opinion and responsible for its acts.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

The real charm of the United States is that it is the only comic country ever heard of.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
