Barbets
Order: Piciformes. Family: Lybiidae
The barbets are plump birds, with short necks and large heads. They get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills. Most species are brightly coloured. African barbets belong to the Lybiidae family. There are 42 species of African barbets and 11 species which occur in Ethiopia.
