The Sing Along Machine
PC Plum asks Miss Hoolie if she heard any strange noises in the night. She tells him that she had been kept awake by a deep booming voice that said "yoghurt pots" over and over again. At first, they can't figure out what it means, but then Miss Hoolie remembers that Archie has a huge collection of yoghurt pots. So PC Plum dashes over to Archie's castle and gets to the bottom of the mystery. Archie had been testing his new invention in the night. It's a very noisy music machine. PC Plum tells Archie not to use it again. Archie is disappointed, so PC Plum takes it to Spencer, who might put it to good use. Spencer tries out Archie's machine and loves it. He tries speaking into it and singing into it. Then he comes up with a brilliant idea - to use it as a sing-along machine. Spencer and PC Plum bring the machine to the nursery, and all the nursery children have a turn at singing along with Archie's invention.

Famous quotes containing the words sing and/or machine:
“We sing the funeral, as goes the custom, with the hymn of the Dead. But Manuel, he chose a hymn for the living: the song of the coumbite, the song of the earth, of the water, the plants, of fellowship between peasants because he wanted, as I now understand it, that his death for you be the renewal of life.”
—Jacques Roumain (19071945)
“The momentary charge at Balaklava, in obedience to a blundering command, proving what a perfect machine the soldier is, has, properly enough, been celebrated by a poet laureate; but the steady, and for the most part successful, charge of this man, for some years, against the legions of Slavery, in obedience to an infinitely higher command, is as much more memorable than that as an intelligent and conscientious man is superior to a machine. Do you think that that will go unsung?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
