List Of Awards Received By Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was an American recording artist, songwriter, and entertainer. He debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11, as a member of The Jackson 5, and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, five of his solo studio albums have become some of the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). Thriller has remained the biggest selling album of all time with reported sales of between 51 to 65 million and a Recording Industry Association of America certification of 29 million units.

Through his group, solo, and family work, he became the first artist to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He was also inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame as the first (and currently only) dancer from the world of pop and rock 'n' roll. Jackson's other achievements include 31 Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 26 American Music Awards, 18 World Music Awards and the estimated sale of 350 to 400 million units worldwide. Winning countless awards for his humanitarian endeavors, the singer has been honoured by two Presidents of the United States. He has also been named as the artist of "the Decade", "Generation", "Century", and "Millennium" and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. Jackson is the most downloaded artist in the history of music and is the most awarded and nominated artist of all time.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, received, michael and/or jackson:

    Shea—they call him Scholar Jack—
Went down the list of the dead.
    Officers, seamen, gunners, marines,
The crews of the gig and yawl,
The bearded man and the lad in his teens,
    Carpenters, coal-passers—all.
    Joseph I. C. Clarke (1846–1925)

    Lastly, his tomb
Shall list and founder in the troughs of grass
And none shall speak his name.
    Karl Shapiro (b. 1913)

Biography, in its purer form, confined to the ended lives of the true and brave, may be held the fairest meed of human virtue—one given and received in entire disinterestedness—since neither can the biographer hope for acknowledgment from the subject, not the subject at all avail himself of the biographical distinction conferred.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

Yes, that’s what I needed. Living flesh from humans for my experiments. What difference did it make if a few people had to die? Their flesh taught me how to manufacture arms, legs, faces that are human. I’ll make a crippled world whole again.
Robert Tusker, and Michael Curtiz. Wells (Preston Foster)

From his proceedings in Congress, he appears demented, and his actings and doings inspire my pity more than anger.
    —Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)
