This is a list of aircraft of the Royal Canadian Navy. It also covers the period post-1968 when in theory all aircraft operations were transferred to the air section of the newly unified Canadian Forces (now Canadian Forces Maritime Command).
Prior to the Second World War Canada did not operate any naval aircraft. The Royal Navy Air Service's Royal Navy Canadian Air Service operated flying boats. During the Second World War, Canada's naval aircraft were carrier based aircraft inherited from the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. From the end of war to the 1960s, the RCN operated both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. After the CF sold off their last carrier (HMCS Bonaventure), Canada's navy operated only helicopters on their ships. The Tracker aircraft was stationed inland and performed maritime patrols.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, royal, canadian and/or navy:
“Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.”
—Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
“Religious literature has eminent examples, and if we run over our private list of poets, critics, philanthropists and philosophers, we shall find them infected with this dropsy and elephantiasis, which we ought to have tapped.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“But while meditating
What we cant or can
Lets keep starring man
In the royal role.”

“I call to mind the navy great
That the Greeks brought to Troye town,
And how the boistous winds did beat
Their ships, and rent their sails adown;
Till Agamemnons daughters blood
Appeased the gods that them withstood.”
—Henry Howard, Earl Of Surrey (1517?1547)
