List of Agatha Christie's Poirot Episodes - Remaining Stories

Remaining Stories

There are two remaining Hercule Poirot stories that will not be adapted into proper episodes. These are The Lemesurier Inheritance (1923), which will be woven into the plot of "The Labours of Hercules", and the play Black Coffee. In 2012, Suchet performed a rehearsed reading of Black Coffee, produced and presented by The Agatha Christie Theatre Company, in aid of Chichester Festival Theatre’s restoration fund.

Additionally, a number of Poirot short stories were expanded into other stories or novels and have not been filmed in their original form. These are:

  • The Market Basing Mystery (1923) – the same plot-line was expanded and used for Murder In The Mews
  • The Submarine Plans (1923) – later expanded into The Incredible Theft
  • Christmas Adventure (1923) – later expanded into The Theft Of The Royal Ruby (or The Adventure Of The Christmas Pudding as it is alternatively known)
  • The Mystery Of The Baghdad Chest (1932) – later expanded into The Mystery Of The Spanish Chest
  • The Second Gong (1932) – later expanded into Dead Man's Mirror
  • The Regatta Mystery (1936) – this is not generally known as a Poirot story, as it was expanded into the more famous Parker Pyne short story of the same name
  • The Greenshore Folly - unpublished novella featuring Hercule Poirot, expanded into Dead Man's Folly
  • The Incident of the Dog's Ball - posthumous short story, expanded into Dumb Witness
  • The Capture of Cerberus - posthumous short story, originally intended to be the last of The Labours of Hercules, but re-written due to its political content
