Life
Elizabeth Joy "Lisa" Goldstein's father was Heinz Jurgen "Harry" Goldstein (b. June 8, 1922 in Krefeld, Germany; d. May 24, 1974 in Los Angeles), a survivor of concentration camp Bergen-Belsen; her mother, Miriam Roth (b. April 8, 1922 in Mukachevo, Czechoslovakia; d. October 12, 2011 in Los Angeles), survived the extermination camp Auschwitz. Her parents came to the United States in 1947 and met in an ESL class.
She has written two high fantasy novels "by Isabel Glass". Her publisher recommended a pseudonym because they differ so much from her other work. "Isabel" is from Point Isabel Regional Shoreline, a local park which includes a dog run. "Glass" fits the Tor Books norm, short surnames in the first half of the alphabet.
She married Douglas A. Asherman in 1986, and lives in Oakland, California.

Famous quotes containing the word life:
“Habits in writing as in life are only useful if they are broken as soon as they cease to be advantageous.”
—W. Somerset Maugham (18741965)
“And all the great traditions of the Past
They saw reflected in the coming time.
And thus forever with reverted look
The mystic volume of the world they read,
Spelling it backward, like a Hebrew book,
Till life became a Legend of the Dead.”
—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (18091882)
“The man of large and conspicuous public service in civil life must be content without the Presidency. Still more, the availability of a popular man in a doubtful State will secure him the prize in a close contest against the first statesman of the country whose State is safe.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
