Women's Field Hockey

Lindenwood field hockey competes as an NCAA Division II independent program against mostly NCAA Division II and Division III opponents, as well as Division I competition, including in-state programs at Missouri State and St. Louis University. The Lady Lions have posted a record of 30-31 over the past five seasons. After dismal seasons in 2004 and 2006, the team has recorded plus .500 records 2007-2009. In 2010 the LU athletics department identified field hockey as one of the sports moving to NCAA Division II, placing field hockey in the same division as rival Bellarmine University. LU field hockey will be eligible for NCAA post season play in 2013; it would be the first season in program history that LU could compete for a championship due to the NAIA not sponsoring a championship for field hockey.

Famous quotes containing the words women and/or field:

... even if the right to vote brought to women no better work, no better pay, no better conditions in any way, she should have it for her own self-respect and to compel man’s respect for her.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)

Hardly a book of human worth, be it heaven’s own secret, is honestly placed before the reader; it is either shunned, given a Periclean funeral oration in a hundred and fifty words, or interred in the potter’s field of the newspapers’ back pages.
    Edward Dahlberg (1900–1977)
