Linda Arkley

Linda Arkley is the Conservative mayor of North Tyneside, England,

She was elected as mayor in a 2003 by-election, following the resignation of Chris Morgan. She had previously been Deputy Leader of the Conservative group on North Tyneside Council. After her defeat, she continued to campaign on behalf of the Conservative Party as a Preston ward councillor.

Arkley stood for a second term in 2005 but was defeated by Labour candidate John Harrison.

She began her second term as Mayor in June 2009 after winning the North Tyneside Council mayoral election, 2009 after defeating the incumbent Labour mayor John Harrison.

Following gains made by the Labour Party in the 2010 local elections, Linda Arkley must deal with a council in which Labour is the largest party.
