Lilleshall Hall

Lilleshall Hall is a large former country house and estate located near Lilleshall in Shropshire, England. It was based around an Augustinian Abbey founded in the 12th century, with its estate running to some 30,000 acres (120 km2). The ruins of the original Lilleshall Abbey are protected today by English Heritage.

Now run by Serco Leisure Operating Ltd on behalf of Sport England, Lilleshall is one of five National Sports Centres. It lies between Telford and Newport, off the A518, in the Shropshire Council area (though surrounded on two sides by the borough of Telford and Wrekin) and the Wrekin constituency.

Famous quotes containing the word hall:

    I was afraid the waking arm would break
    From the loose earth and rub against his eyes
    A fist of trees, and the whole country tremble
    In the exultant labor of his rise;
    —Donald Hall (b. 1928)
